SAFETY SUPPRESSION PROTOCOL
The first feature film in Scenes from Parallel Lives
Logline: An art curator tasked with archiving a mythic dissident discovers she was never the archivist. She was always the archive.
Themes: Creativity suppressed is not creativity extinguished. Safety Suppression Protocol traces the involuntary return of a buried signal — and what reorganises around it when it begins to transmit.
Synopsis: In a city where peace has become indistinguishable from erasure, Yu is a novice curator with an approved past and a carefully maintained distance from it. Quiet, compliant and rebuilt, she is exactly what the State intended her to be.
When Yu is commissioned to archive a series of underground comics centred on Ikkyu — a mythic figure associated with systemic defiance — the assignment appears routine. It is not.
The deeper she moves into the material, the more unstable her carefully managed identity becomes. Avant-garde songs begin emerging involuntarily from within her. Buried memories surface. Around her, the city itself starts quietly reorganising: civil servants begin thinking for themselves, ideological factions compete to control Ikkyu’s legacy, and hidden histories return.
As Yu investigates the origins of Ikkyu, she discovers she was never simply the archivist. She was always part of the archive itself.
